Welcome to CSI-PUNE.ORG Historically, Pune has been famous for Education and Cultural activities. It is also one of the major industrial centers in India. One of the pioneering IT cities in India, Pune is the first place in Asia, where automated data processing using Punched Cards was started in 1949 for processing Secondary examinations results. India's first super computer, Param, was concieved and built in Pune under the aegis of the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). Pune now has a throbbing and ever-growing IT presence with exports from Pune-based software and ITES companies poised on the brink of US$ two billion a year!
